Covid-19 ruined many of our travel plans, keeping us locked inside for a fairly long time. However, with the vaccine going and the borders opening up again, it’s time to take your travel bag out of storage. But with the risk there and some country restrictions still in place, where should you go? Where can you travel safely without risking quarantines, restrictions, and disease? Well, here are a few ideas.
1. Kefalonia Island, Asos, Greece
If you are a vaccinated traveler or have a negative PCR test, there’s no quarantine when you’re going to Kefalonia Island. The place is beautiful, with blue skies, crystal clear seas, and warm, cozy weather. The rate for infected people is lower compared to most countries, and it’s also not as crowded – making it social-distance friendly. There’s an 11 PM-4 AM curfew, but you can easily enjoy the place by day.
2. Canary Islands, Spain
Canary Islands are also open for people who are fully vaccinated or can show a negative COVID-19 test. There are several islands there, all of them truly beautiful and looking like a little piece of heaven. Whether you go to Tenerife or Gran Canaria, you’ll find some peace and quiet there.
3. Antigua and Barbuda
If you feel like going to the beach in the Eastern Caribbean Islands, then Antigua and Barbuda are open to tourists. As long as you are fully vaccinated or can present a negative PCR test taken less than 72 hours before the trip, you shall pass. The beauty of this place is that there are many beach houses and remote vacation spots you can go to, so the chance of catching the COVID-19 virus is fairly low.
4. The Maldives
The beauty of the Maldives is that you have 1190 small islands to choose from, scattered all over the Indian Ocean. As a result, if you are looking for social distance, you can get it there. Just get your own beach villa and relax. Plus, regardless of their vaccination status, people need to provide a PCR test. This means that coming across “carriers” is relatively low – and mixed with the fact that the island resorts are private and spacious, the chances of catching the virus are reduced.
5. The Bahamas
If you are fully vaccinated and can also provide a negative test, you may pay a visit to the Bahamas. Featuring beautiful beaches and lush surroundings, it’s one of the most beautiful places where you can safely travel to. There’s no quarantine, so once you get there, you are free to start visiting.
6. Malta
Malta has some of the lowest rates for severe cases in Europe, making it a fairly safe place to visit. It’s open to vaccinated travelers, so if you had your jab, then you may go visit without risking quarantine. Malta is packed with beaches, hiking roads, and history, to the point that you’ll never get bored.
The Bottom Line
Slowly but surely, things are opening up for us again. Check the requirements for each destination and go relax. Remember that regardless of your vaccination status, you should still follow the requirements necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-10. Wash your hands, wear a mask when you’re near other people, and maintain a safe social distance.
